Maes Y Llan, is the largest property in a row of three in the lovely village of Llanbedr. This spacious house, spread over 3 floors, is very well appointed and has achieved the Welsh Tourist Boards highest rating of 5 stars.

The fitted kitchen for example is very well equipped and includes a large six ring cooking range. Perfect for cooking big family meals after a long enjoyable day on the beach.

You’ll probably eat your meal in the sunny conservatory of course. The large dining table there overlooks green fields to the rear of the house and is one of the highlights of this property. You can then throw open the double doors onto the large comfortable lounge or take your coffee out onto the south facing patio. The rest of the family will naturally volunteer to do the washing up, but there is a dishwasher if you need it. A small utility room also houses a washing machine and tumble dryer.

There are two bedrooms on the first floor. One with a king size bed and one with a double bed. These rooms both have generous en-suite bathrooms. The first en-suite has a bath and shower cubicle the second has a shower over the bath.

My favorite bedroom is probably on the second floor. This large bedroom has a fantastic full length window which opens out onto the fields behind the house. So make a dash for this one when you arrive. The second floor also has a twin room and a third bathroom with a bath and shower cubicle.

Location

As mentioned, Maes-Y-Llan is in the heart of the charming little village of Llanbedr. So walking distance to the pub, two in the village, and the grocery shop. Again, two grocers in the village and a butchers. Both pubs serve food. The Victoria Inn has a fantastic beer garden on the banks of the Artro River and the ‘Ty Mawr’ has a selection of real ales and a fantastic atmosphere especially when there’s rugby on the TV. Harlech with its famous castle is five minutes away by car and the larger seaside town of Barmouth is about ten minutes away in the opposite direction. So plenty of other restaurants and shops within easy reach.

The famous beaches of Shell Island are a mile away. But fantastic blue flag beaches are dotted all along this coastline. One of our favorites is Llandanwg beach, a mile up the coast to the north.

A lot of people who come to this area naturally head straight for Snowdon and the challenge of climbing to the highest point in England and Wales. You can’t drive 2 miles in this area without coming across a castle or historic building of some kind. Narrow gage railways and steam trains are also a big draw for both the young and old. More adventurous pursuits include white water rafting on the Tryweryn and Mountain biking in the Coed Y Brennin forest. There are also a number of golf courses in the area. The famous links course at Royal St Davids, Harlech is the nearest and just a 5 minute drive up the coast.
